Our Expertise and Services

At Mawar Medical Centre, our Endoscopy Centre is a dedicated hub for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Equipped with the latest endoscopic technology and supported by a team of experienced consultants, we offer a full spectrum of minimally invasive services designed to detect, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions with precision and care.

Our comprehensive
range of services includes

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy involves the use of a colonoscope—a flexible tube fitted with a camera—to examine the large intestine and rectum. This essential procedure enables the detection of polyps, inflammation, bleeding, and other abnormalities. It is particularly valuable for colorectal cancer screening and for investigating symptoms such as rectal bleeding, chronic diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.

OGDS (Oesophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy)

Also known as Gastroscopy, OGDS allows visual inspection of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum. A slim, flexible endoscope is passed through the mouth, helping consultants identify ulcers, inflammation, tumours, or sources of gastrointestinal bleeding. The procedure also facilitates biopsies and therapeutic interventions, such as dilation or haemostasis.

Cystoscopy

Performed by our Consultant Urologist, Cystoscopy is a non-surgical procedure to examine the bladder and urethra using a fine tube with a high-resolution camera. It is instrumental in diagnosing urinary tract disorders, including haematuria, recurrent infections, and bladder tumours.

Enteroscopy

Enteroscopy is a specialised endoscopic procedure used to visualise the small intestine, a region not easily reached by conventional endoscopy. This technique is particularly effective for detecting obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, small bowel tumours, or Crohn’s disease. It is performed using a longer, more advanced endoscope with balloon-assisted or spiral technology, allowing access deep into the small bowel.

Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy allows for the direct examination of the airways and lungs. A thin, flexible bronchoscope is inserted through the nose or mouth and down the throat into the bronchi. This procedure is essential for diagnosing lung infections, chronic cough, airway blockages, and suspected lung cancer. It may also be used to collect tissue samples or remove obstructions.

Sigmoidoscopy

Sigmoidoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that examines the lower part of the colon, specifically the sigmoid colon and rectum. It is often used to investigate symptoms such as rectal bleeding or changes in bowel habits. This targeted approach offers a quicker, less invasive alternative to full colonoscopy when appropriate.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) with FNA/FNB

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) combines endoscopy with high-frequency ultrasound to produce detailed images of the digestive tract and surrounding organs, including the pancreas and lymph nodes. When coupled with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) or Fine Needle Biopsy (FNB), EUS enables real-time tissue sampling for the accurate diagnosis of cysts, tumours, or malignancies, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
